Friction

God places apples and oranges near each other, not so they can go off and start their own orchards, but so they can grow together. He does not do it so they will subvert one another but so they will learn to love one another.

The truth is, there is no perfect church or perfect perspective this side of heaven, but there are a lot of short-sighted and petulant Christians. Instead of running from conflict, perhaps, we should embrace the friction between us. Because even though friction produces heat it also can produce fire. Lord, allow our differences to sharpen us and send your fire to consume us. Let us be a people that gather around the warmth of your presence and not the attitudes and preferences that make us the most comfortable.
