Peculiar Creatures

The twice born are peculiar creatures. They find themselves at the intersection of the eternal and the perishing. They have died, are dying, and will one day die—all at the same time. “I have been crucified with Christ” says Paul in Galatians 2:20 yet Jesus says that to follow Him means to crucify oneself daily (Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23). We then can look forward to the final death of the old man when we see Christ in His return. In 1 John 3:2, the Apostle John explains that when we see Christ we will be like Him. The process of the Christian is one of love, then hope, then faith. To be stuck in time with an eternal fire. To be a citizen of a kingdom that you have never seen yet have somehow always belonged to.
